16 April 2008, all North Sumatera citizens did election of North Sumatera Governor. And now, H Syamsul Arifin SE and Gatot Pudjonugroho is governor and vice governor of North Sumatera period for 2008 - 2013, as the result of governor election KPUD North Sumatera. H Syamsul Arifin SE and Gatot Pudjonugroho got the most voices, 28,31% or 1.396.892 voices of total 4.933.687 voices.Source: Waspada Online
